How does Portugal. The Man go from playing The Parish to selling out Stubb's in 18 months? Chalk it up to a tireless work ethic. Since debuting in 2006 with Waiter: "You Vultures!", the Portland-via-Wasilla, Alaska, four-piece has produced electro-fused indie-soul at breakneck speed, releasing six albums in just as many years and touring for upwards of 250 shows a cycle. PTM's put in their 10,000 hours, and they're rightfully reaping the benefits.

With the July release of sixth album In The Mountain In The Cloud, their first on Atlantic Records and their first to chart in Billboard's Top 50, PTM has added a bruising backbeat to their already pristine futuristic funk, a change that gives songs like "All Your Light [Times Like These]" and "Floating [Time Isn't Working My Side]" a welcome punch. Singer John Gourley and company packed that and more into a whirlwind hour-and-forty-five minute set at Stubb's - "The Pusher Party" for Austin's chapter of Satanic Satanists.
