Boosy Cray @ Flipnotics on Feb 22, 2011
Straight out of the Delta swamp with muck still seemingly caked to every one of Jack Martin’s snarling slide riffs, Boosy Cray The woods lament for me feasts on “Melungeon Devil Magick.” The trio’s indebted to their forefathers, the old bluesmen who once haunted Mississippi. It’s a truth most obvious midway through Justin Wade Thompson’s possessed wails on “Gold Tooth”: “I ain’t no Blind Lemon, I ain’t no Willie McTell. I’ll be standing at the crossroad with no soul to sell.”
