Continental Graffiti @ The Ghost Room on May 14, 2011
Katie Holmes’ most trusted violin was stolen from her three days prior, but the theft did nothing to diminish her talent. The fiddler/guitarist’s poignant, breathy drawl and refined chops were on full display as Continental Graffiti flipped through originals and standards that included the classic “Blue Skies” and Harry Nilsson’s “One (Is the Loneliest Number).” The quartet’s not afraid to break the language barrier either—guitarist Olivier Giraud sings two songs, “Menilmontat” and “Azzurro,” in French and Italian, respectively.
