Say Say Say’s gotta be the only thrasher metal band with a taste for John Wayne. Considering his input on the San Marcos troupe’s April run through Emo’s, it might border on divine worship. The Duke made it into two references throughout Say Say Say’s thirty-minute set; first with Wayne’s introduction to ‘Gunsmoke’ leading off the set, and again as the namesake to brand new cut “Thank God for John Wayne.” This is the stuff men are made of.
