Club de Ville

BK and Mr. E @ Club de Ville on Jan 7, 2011

It is appropriate that the group kicked off their set with 'The Only Thing (I Hate about U),' an electro-pop number with a 45 second pep-rallying drumline intro. BK & Mr. E replaced the multi-tenor and bass drums with computers and left the field. A marching band somewhere in the country is missing a pair of uniforms. This classically trained duo is hard at work on their second album, in the meantime, you can get your dance on to their first, ‘Under the Radar’.

Monarchs @ Club de Ville on Jan 7, 2011

Admittedly under the weather with a case of dreaded cedar fever, Monarchs' Celeste Griffin still brought her 'A game' to Adi Anand's First Friday Frolic, an eight-act bill benefiting Austin Music People. The Austin-via-Birmingham songstress' haunting, southern-twinged vocals coalesced with her percussive piano melodies like honey in tea, making scat jazzer "Arm's Length" and the honky-tonk "Blvd." bounce from end to end of Club deVille's outdoor stage. "Come on and Move Me" - an easy order in the case of this Monarch.

Erin Ivey @ Club de Ville on Jan 7, 2011

Erin Ivey @ Club de Ville by Austin Music Weekly, on Flickr With no accompaniment besides her acoustic guitar, Erin Ivey proved herself capable of bringing a little chill to an otherwise mild January night. Evidence lies in two provocative covers – Bruce Springsteen’s “Atlantic City” and The Five Satins’ “In the Still of the Night” – that the sultry Ivey mixed in with stripped-down cuts from her then-unreleased LP ‘Broken Gold’. What emerges is raw, real, and songwriting to revere.

Auto Body @ Club de Ville on Dec 18, 2010

It's a tradition unlike any other; Auto Body melting every face at Cirque du Xmas, like peas and carrots in an electro-infused blender of rock. Home and hellraisin' for the Holidaze, AB duo Tibaut and Felix packed a "Knockout" punch to the reckless and the wild at Club De Ville, pumping "So Humble the Goddess" hard enough to make you think Christmas came early. Good luck staying seated through this one.

Til We're Blue Or Destroy @ Club de Ville on Oct 9, 2010

Sometimes Til We’re Blue or Destroy'll throw you a glitzy synth-pop, like on set opener “Give Up on the High Side.” But most of the time the eccentric, harmonious quartet is busting out a modern set of country rock, something evident from “East on Katy” to “Dead Girlfriends” and back again. Just when you think you’ve got ‘em pigeonholed, TWBOD’s onto a new groove. This Saturday post-ACL set at Club de Ville stands as perfect evidence.

Thanks
