Red 7
Hard Proof Afrobeat @ Red 7 on Jan 5, 2012
Internationally inspired, locally produced, Hard Proof Afrobeat is Austin's most formidable extension of the Fela Kuti legacy, a nine-man army of funk and soul with enough brass to make you shake your ass. The band capped off a long night at Red 7 during Free Week with a dirty down grooveline processional, the perfect way to close out another nasty night on Red River.
Scorpion Child @ Red 7 on Jan 22, 2011
It’s that head-bangin’ rock and roll, the stoner metal shakedown that’s fueled by screaming SGs and dudes jumping off Marshall stacks. Five-manned Scorpion Child invaded Red 7 like rollin’ thunder, shaking gothic soul everywhere from Shawn Paul Alvear’s hard-nosed fills to Aryn Black’s infernal howl. Had there been a roof over their heads, it would have been blown right off.
Bridge Farmers @ Red 7 on Jan 22, 2011
Tyler Huatala’s green military jacket appropriately set the stage for everyone: the Bridge Farmers take no prisoners. The stoner metal foursome broke out the gate like a hellstorm last Saturday outside at Red 7, thrashing the low-end vibrato of “Eqqus” before the bellowing, pained howls of “Ummo” shook the concrete on their makeshift Din of Celestial Birds. Only “Acid Tongue” brought the chaos down anywhere close to stable. We hope you brought your earplugs.
